shooting for the “love” of it…

Filed under: family, fun — julie @ 5:53 pm

So often I am asked to bring my camera along to outings or events with friends to capture the moments of fun, and i am always happy to. I think it is when I unexpectantly bring it along when I feel that creative freedom to do what I want…

Yesterday my family and our good friends, The Duque’s, headed to our annual beach day to San Clemente to just relax and enjoy the day. Although I worked 14 hours the day before (and was EXHAUSTED), I grabbed my camera at the last minute as I was running out the door.

I didn’t shoot much, but when I did, it was so much fun! It happened to be San Clemente’s Annual Ocean Festival, so we had a blast watching all of the sand creations being built, surf competitions, and walking around.

The pier had a Vintage Woody Car show on it and a really nice man offered his car for me to shoot a few frames of Tristan:

I have been so bummed that we are not going on our family vacation this year, so it was really nice to be able to take this time to enjoy the day with my family. It is times like these that I am humbly reminded of how precious these moments are and how lucky we are to have the family and friends that we have!

ryan + shamai: claremont wedding

Filed under: wedding — julie @ 4:11 pm

Things really DO happen for a reason, and I believe there is a master plan in place for us all….

I was reminded of this when Ryan and Shamai told me about their destiny and undeniable love that they found within each other.

Ryan was heading back to the Army and while he was in line at the airport, he noticed a beautiful blonde in front of him, and knew at that moment that he had to meet her…except he couldn’t even open his mouth to talk to her because he was too nervous!….what he didn’t know at the time is that this beautiful blonde would become his wife 6 months later.

He also didn’t know that she was boarding the same plane and was heading to the same exact location he was heading to: back to their Army base in Tennessee.

There is no longer a need for words. The images speak so loudly yet in such a calming and safe way…

Last night was my monthly PUG meeting and as always, we had a great time discussing business, PICtage, and getting our doses of inspiration!

Joanne Distaso was our Studio Spotlight and she talked about how she started her career in photography one year ago…it has been so fun watching her business grow and I am so inspired by her drive and passion for  for photography.  She is also a very cool person and so easy to love!!!  Great job last night, Jo! We LOVE you!!!!

If any photographers out there want to come check out our PUG, we love to meet new friends!  Please shoot me an email and let me know that you want to visit!

Here is a shot of our group last night…don’t we look fun?  And Laker’s lost last night anyway…you know you should have been here hangin with the cool folk!

baby ME: customer of the month

Filed under: portrait — julie @ 3:41 pm

It’s that time again to announce baby ME’s customer of the month, Nicholas!  It was a lot of fun working with Nicholas and his mom, Leisl.

He was a little unsure of me at the beginning, but as soon as I showed him my little vintage car, he was super stoked on it!  We had a blast and I really enjoyed playing with him!

Congrats to our customers!

andrew and gila: engagement session, OC style!

Filed under: engagement — julie @ 8:35 pm

Since Andrew and Gila live in the heart of Corona Del Mar, they thought it would be fun to have their engagement session right in their own backyard! We started out at a little winery in Laguna, then made our way to the beach!

We had a lot of fun:

This one just makes me laugh!!!

Can’t wait until your wedding in August! Thanks for the great time!
